Texas School of
Professional Photography
is the largest
photographic school of
it's kind in the US.
All evening meals and
drinks are paid for by
sponsors of Texas
School.
There is always one
themed party in the
evening. 2012's party
theme is "Boots and
Boxers".
Costumes are encouraged.
Texas School is owned
and operated by the
Texas Professional
Photographers
Association by
Trustees appointed
by the Association.
The Trustees are
volunteers and work year
round planning the
school.
Attendees often team up
to share hotel expenses.
Attendees often learn as
much from classmates as
they do from the
instructor.
Attendees can attend the
school at no cost by
offering to serve as a
"Wrangler".
Wranglers serve as
assistants to the
instructors. They
keep the communication
lines open between the
classroom and office,
and are available to
assist you in class if
your having computer
issues or need help
understanding a
particular technique.
In order to serve as a
Wrangler, you must have
attended Texas School at
least once previously.
Seen those colorful
ribbons and medallions
worn by photographers at
conventions and
seminars?
Those degrees are
achieved by accumulating
merits.
Merits you'll receive
for attending Texas
School apply towards all
three degrees offered by
PPA, including Master of
Photography,
Photographic Craftsman
and Master of Electronic
Imaging.
Classmates often carpool
to lunch or arrange to
meet as a group at a
particular restaurant
close by.
